This is one of the most common complaints you hear from parents, especially Mamas today. “I am always tried and lacking in energy I find coffee and tea is the only thing that gets me through the day”
I used to be that Mama too, I woke up tired, went to bed tired and at 3pm I was exhausted so what changed….
One of the biggest causes of fatigue is nutrient deficiencies.. “but I’m eating a super healthy diet” I hear you say!
When I think of energy, I think of B Vitamins and minerals.
B Vitamins are not stored by the body and they are massively depleted by bouts of stress so most us need to either supplement or increase the amounts through our diet of mostly leafy greens, lentils and beans but there are other ways too, see below..
Minerals are disappearing from our soils with intensive farming (80% drop in Magnesium in the last 100 years!) so I’m always thinking of ways I can increase the mineral content for my body. While living in Mexico, I have Shiljit with me, this is a resin from deep within the mountains in India, it contains years of plant matter condensed into the resin that you can drink in water. I’m going to be talking about Shiljit more on my YouTube and new
This is why I love fermented foods they are a factory of B Vitamins in your gut.
- Fermented soy beans have 3 x amount of B Vitamins than regular Soy,
see here - Fermented foods especially Kimchi is one of the only plant-based sources of B12 for Vegans,
see here - It also reduces the anti-nutrient in the plants by 40% which means that the minerals in plants, grains and legumes are much more bioavailable to the body, adding more energy to your body.
